blanc
A desk designed for the Staples eco-friendly line, blanc has two square whiteboards under its glass surface. The user is encouraged to use these boards to work out problems, jot down notes, keep lists, or sketch ideas. Each board can be lifted from its sliding tray and placed in a slot on the back of the desk for visibility.
I designed blanc with the Recychedelics in Spring 2012 for 2.744 - Product Design.
claire
Claire addresses medication non-adherence by automating the chore of prescription pill sorting. The user empties each prescription into one of several bins and chooses the time(s) of day at which to take the medication. Claire sorts the pills into a daily pillbox by time. The component shown accepts a month's worth of pills of any shape and size and dispenses them individually to be sorted into a pillbox. The system is intended for home use, so factors of size and cost are second only to accuracy.
I developed Claire in Spring 2012 as a thesis project.
phil
Phil is a faucet attachment that prevents overflows and saves time in busy commercial kitchens. Phil will recognize the depth of the user's hand in the sink, and, when the user's hand is clear of the faucet, the sink fills to the specified height and cuts off automatically. My work focused on the valve manifold, nozzle, and faucet quick-release attachment design.
I developed Phil with Team Orange in Fall 2011 for 2.009 - Product Engineering Processes.
